ABOUT THE ROLE

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) supports the operation of our systems using a breadth of tools and approaches to solve a broad range of problems. You will be part of a cross functional team aligned to Agile and DevOps principles and acts as a knowledgeable facilitator ensuring that team members can access information they need easily and securely.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the strategy for a modern system operations function, including approaches to leverage automation, predictive analytics and machine learning
  • Collaborate with the Belong Engineering team to continuously improve Belong’s DevOps/SRE capabilities and approach
  • Build and optimise IT operations transparency, creating the required tools for data driven decisions, vendor compliance, and partner compliance (including Telstra)
  • Lead and improve Service Management capabilities including Incident, Problem, Environment and Change Management aligning with an Agile delivery approach
  • Adopt a Site Reliability Engineering approach to operations to optimise production resilience, manage scale, and enable opportunity for other System Operations team members
  • Contribute to the preparation of disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including testing BCPs
  • Drive the modernisation of legacy assets to maximise observability (outages, message tracing), improve processes/relationships, improve performance whilst enabling best practice on the future stack with a clear system decommissioning plan
  • Provide hands-on expertise during service impacting events and technical escalations (e.g. analysis / trouble shooting of systems and servers). This also includes configuration changes to production systems, as well as standardization of trouble shooting procedures
  • Lead by example and do fair share of workload

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Analytical mindset, natural curiosity, initiative and willingness to think outside the box to solve problems, using engineering approaches to running better production systems
  • Extensive years of experience working in technology roles across modern development, infrastructure and deployment and observability practices
  • Strong Software Engineering, Software Development, Systems Observability
  • Any experience in System Administration, Networking or DevOps is good to have.
  • Some or all of the following technical skills: AWS, Kubernetes, Java, APM Tooling, Infrastructure as Code, Python, Golang,, Scripting (e.g. bash, Python), ITSM tooling, Salesforce, APM tooling, Splunk, Integration platforms
  • Experience in executing a support function for customer facing products and services.
  • Experience or exposure to ITIL service management frameworks
  • Strong understanding and experience in Agile delivery methodologies and toolsets with minimum 3+ years of working in projects applying Agile techniques
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Relevant technical certifications (including Agile, ITIL and Cloud) is desirable.
